4555 N. Sheridan Begins Next Chapter As 'Upshore Chapter'

The historic Sheridan Plaza is reflected in the soon-to-open building across the street, at 4555 North Sheridan.

The long-awaited mid-rise building currently under construction at Sheridan and Wilson is scheduled to begin occupancy in July, according to a banner posted on its scaffolding.

The mixed-use residential rental building (with ground-floor retail) is on a corner lot that had been unused since El Pollo Loco suddenly closed its Chicago restaurants in January of 2010.

Located at the intersection of two of Uptown's busiest streets, the lot sat abandoned for more than eight years until Clayco began demo and construction in May of 2018. It was purchased in 2015 by Cedar Street, which then sold it to CRG. Several different development designs were considered before a final decision was made.

The new building will have 149 apartments (seven classified as "affordable") and 5000 square feet of retail space at street level, adding vibrance to a corner that had none for nearly a decade.

If you'd like to be contacted about leasing when it begins, visit the website and leave your name and contact information.
