Clarendon Park Neighbors Block Club got their first view of Clayco Development's updated proposal for the vacant parcel on the SE corner of Sheridan and Wilson last night. Ald. Cappleman just sent out an email detailing the changes.

You might notice that this has been significantly reworked from the first version that was shared with residents a few weeks back.  The City's Department of Planning and Uptown United shared feedback and the design was tweaked. See complete details for the development here.

11 stories of residential (increased from 8) with a 12th story featuring a green roof and amenities for the building now rises as high as the historic Sheridan Plaza apartments across the street. The retail space for the building will now run along Wilson Avenue and the entrance to the parking garage, as well as the lobby for the residential portion, will be off of Sheridan. The building will feature a setback from the neighboring building directly to the south, with a green roof on the second floor over the parking garage.

This will definitely be a huge upgrade over a vacant lot that was most recently a Pollo Loco and before that, a Burger King drive-thru. The proposal will be presented to the 46th Ward Zoning & Development Committee on Monday, February 27.

  1. Last design was good. This is better. Apparently Uptown United and the department of planning have some astute folks.

  2. Whatever the hell it's going to look like, please, just get it built! That intersection desperately needs something there.
