Uptown Branch Library Building Seed Library, Seeks Donations

From BPN:

"Donations are needed for a new Seed Library being established at the Uptown Branch Library (929 West Buena), in cooperation with Ginkgo Gardens

Harvest seeds from your plants this fall, put as many or as few seeds as you see fit in an envelope labeled with the name of the plant, and bring them to the library.

Next spring, library patrons can "borrow" seeds from this library and continue the cycle. Seeding is fundamental!"

In other news, the Uptown branch is now open Sundays as part of the rollout of CPL branches being open seven days a week. The hours are now:

  • Monday: 10am-6pm
  • Tuesday: Noon-8pm
  • Wednesday: 10am-6pm
  • Thursday:  Noon-8pm
  • Friday: 9am-5pm
  • Saturday:  9am-5pm
  • Sunday: 1pm-5pm

Hopefully we'll see the hours expand at the Bezazian Branch Library sometime in 2022.

  1. Currently the staff at the Uptown Branch are not aware or only vaguely aware of this. They reluctantly took my seed donations, but said they didn't know where they would put them. I'll be curious to see if the seed packets will be found in spring, for anyone to borrow.
