The Riviera Next For A Facelift?

September 2013 file photo

The poor cornice of the Riviera Theater has been through so much in the past decade. But we hear help may be on the way....

We heard from a reader who's given us reliable information in the past. She told us she had a conversation with Jerry Mickelson of JAM Productions, the owner of the Riviera (and Uptown Theater) this week.

He indicated that he plans to to do some restoration work at the Riviera next year, including the installation of a new roof and the replacement of the terra cotta on the cornice. In fact, the original terra cotta pieces are sitting on the stage at the Uptown right now, as they have been ever since they were removed.

We're hoping that Mr. Mickelson's future actions match his good intentions. We'll be delighted to do a post in a year or so showing the Riviera facade in good shape for the first time in over a decade.

  1. With Jam Productions, believe it when it happens. Not before.

  2. How about they start by picking up the garbage, sweeping and mopping the floors, and cleaning the washrooms? A beautiful gem is rotting and Jam makes it worse by overselling the shows and never even sweeping the floor. Shameful.

  3. Jerry Mickelson told me the same thing.
