Homeless Man Accused Of Murder Found Unfit For Trial

The 58-year-old homeless man who was charged with the murder of another man in the bus shelter in front of Target last year has been found unfit to stand trial.

Ross Feiwell was charged with stabbing 49-year-old Thomas Sawyer in the neck with a box cutter, killing him, on June 14, 2015, after the two men argued.  According to court testimony, Mr. Sawyer approached Mr. Ross, who was setting up his belongings for the night in the bus shelter.

The two men argued, and then the fight turned physical. Mr. Feiwell apparently considered the bus shelter to be his personal property and is said to have told the police that the motive for the attack was, "I was protecting my house. He was going to piss in my house."

According to the Sun-Times:
At his bond hearing last year, Feiwell said the “Illuminati” are after him and wanted a Rabbi to help him. “I will be judged by a higher power,” Feiwell told the judge.

He also spoke of Anita Hill and Kathy Bates’ performances in the film Misery; and accused an assistant public defender of being the devil and a member of the Illuminati.
He was found guilty of attempted murder in 1986, after he went after a house guest with an axe.

After the judge found him unfit for trial, he was given over to the custody of the Illinois Department of Human Services, where we hope he will receive the care he needs, and that he is never in a position to harm anyone again.

  1. Huh? Hes in custody of Department of Human Services? He's a murderer and should be housed in the IDOC. What the heck is wrong with Cook County??

    1. For someone who calls him- or herself "AmericanLT", you don't have any idea how the American Constitution works, do you? I will educate you.

      (1) People are put in prison (IDOC) after they are convicted in a court of law of committing a crime. This man was found to be unfit to stand trial. Therefore, he did not stand trial. Therefore, he was not convicted of of committing a crime. Therefore, he cannot be put in prison according to the Constitution. You can look up the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment of the Constitution for more details about this very important right.

      (2) Because he was not convicted of a crime (see above), he is not legally considered to be a murderer.

      (3) I am confused by your reference to Cook County. The decision that he is mentally unfit to stand trial was made by Judge Thomas Hennelly.

      You're welcome.

  2. I wonder if the homeless activists relocated him into to our community? After all, Uptown is used as Chicago's leper colony. Seriously, does anyone really believe that the Illinois DHS will do anything other than put him right back into "community care", which is essentially "no care" on the streets?

    1. It wouldn't surprise me at all if he had been relocated here by political action groups under the direction of Helen Shiller. I bet they even made sure he was registered to vote and got a ride to the polls on election day. They couldn't care less about the well-being of the community or of this man and the many like him.

  3. You gotta be kidding me. The man was convicted of one murder, released and went to murder again!!!???? Put him in prison, isolate him from society!!!
Where does he go after Human Services? Is he let out on the streets?

    1. Another one who has no idea about Constitutional rights. Please read my response to AmericanLT about why this man cannot be put in prison under the rights guaranteed him in the U.S. Constitution's Bill of Rights.

Also, please read for comprehension. He was not convicted of murder. Not even once.

NB: Putting in a lot of question marks and exclamation points does not make your point any more valid.

    4. I was actually at the scene when this scene occurred , the man was unquestionably mentally unstable . So no It has nothing to do with a " certain demographic "

  4. Have no fear Cappy will have him over for coffee soon. He says over and over again will fight for residents of Uptown. Until Rahm says "shut up james".

  5. I know Ross. He's a sick man. If anyone knows where he is I'd like them to put me in touch with him. He is a paranoid schizophrenic. He stopped talking to me when he lost touch with reality when someone I knew robbed him. I'm not sure how he became homeless. Even this article says he lived on Malden. I used to visit him there. He then told me he moved to Evanston but maybe that's when he became homeless. He wouldn't tell me where he lived I thought because of his paranoia. I know he doesn't talk to his family and his partner had died. All I can imagine is he he stopped taking meds. He was pretty stable last I saw him. I don't even know if he took meds but I know a few people with schizophrenia and he had acted like he was on meds. Anyways hopefully someone can give me an update on how he is.
