Wilson/Broadway Shooter Arrested, From NW Side

Police made an arrest yesterday evening in the attempted murder at Wilson and Broadway.

Joey Jones, age 31, was taken into custody and is charged with murder in the first degree for the 6:10am killing of a store clerk in the 2400 block of West 63rd Street, and attempted murder in the first degree for shooting Brion Payne at Wilson and Broadway around 9:45am.

Joey Jones lives on the 3000 block of West Armitage.  Why he was in Chicago Lawn and Uptown for his alleged crimes is unknown.

We are glad this person, who was described as "armed and extremely dangerous," is in custody.  We continue to hope for recovery for Brion Payne and are keeping his family in our thoughts.

  1. This kid must have been on drugs. How can you kill two people from different sides of the city and not have some remorse, some after thought? And from reading the news, he didn't know either of the people. Must have been drugs.

I just hope the witnesses testify and the cams caught the act, so he won't be released and cycled back into the community.
