New Police Commander In 20th District

As we mentioned in a previous post, Cmdr. Lucy Moy has been transferred from the 20th District.*  Ald. Osterman put out an email newsletter today where he introduced the new Commander, James Jones.

"Yesterday the Chicago Police Department announced that Commander Lucy Moy will be reassigned to lead the new CAPS implementation plan. I want to thank Commander Moy for her many years of service to the 20th District and our community. She has been a strong partner in fighting crime and has helped us recently implement a new foot patrol on Bryn Mawr and Thorndale. As she works to redefine the CAPS program, our office will continue working closely with Commander Moy.

The 20th District has received a new Police Commander, James Jones. Commander Jones holds 26 years experience with the Chicago Police Department and was most recently a Captain in a south side district. His experience includes work with gang, drug and violence units.

I held a joint meeting with Commander Jones and Commander Moy this morning to discuss the recent events as well as reoccurring gang, drug and criminal activity. It was a productive meeting and on Thursday, December 13 I will host a community meeting at Goudy School to introduce the new Commander to the community. We will then follow-up after the first of the year with other opportunities to meet Commander Jones. Commander Jones is committed to and focused on addressing the gun violence in our community and is looking forward to working alongside community members."

* If you live north of Lawrence in Uptown, you are in the 20th District.

  1. Well this is a start in the right direction. I don't know Jones but I do know Moy and to confuse her with a Police Officer is a sin.
