You're Not Alone

The Tribune took a look at people who haven't filed their tax returns yet, with April 17th not very far away, and they chose Ald. Cappleman as the poster child for procrastinators:
James Cappleman usually cuts it close in filing his income tax returns — the 46th Ward alderman checked the task off his to-do list just this past weekend.

"I normally file later," he said as he left an Uptown tax preparers office. "Last year, it was campaign season. The election was April 5. Before that, I was still gearing up for a campaign."

OK, so most filers can't blame political aspirations for their procrastination, but many can relate. Cappleman is a veritable early bird compared with millions of taxpayers.
