Did You Check The Signs?

Street cleaning starts this week in Uptown; if you park on the street, have you checked the signs? City's broke, ya know, and they just love to write those big tickets.

The city's website has the parking zones and sweeping dates, but it's pretty confusing (you have to click on both the ward number and the sweep map and figure it out).

A better plan is to go to SweepAroundUs and put in your address to get the sweep dates for your block.  You can subscribe and get updates sent via email or to your phone too.

Update:  From the comments -- "It's worth mentioning that you need to resubscribe to the notifications even if you were previously receiving them. According to the site some of the boundaries have changed and so they purged their 2011 contact database."

  2. Whats funny is, we had street cleaning signs up that started at 9pm and at 8:55 am the walking ticketers were out and wrote a few tickets but the street didnt get clean that day!! Upon returning home that evening, the broken glass that was there when I left that morning was still there,,,its a shame how our own city preys on its residents, broke or not...can we boycott?? if so, what? and who exactly? who gave them the right to write a $50 dollar ticket for a $1 offense?? Its Maddening!!

  3. The patterns are nonexistent. They ticket and never clean, they ticket AFTER the cleaning. I once parked in the 7-9am section at 8:45. I got a ticket marked 8:55....
