Tuesday Is National Night Out (23rd District)

37 million people did it last year, worldwide... will you be one of them this year? Tonight is NATIONAL NIGHT OUT and both the 20th and 23rd police districts have activities planned. First, the 23rd:

Clarendon Park Neighbors says: "7pm at Clarendon Park (Clarendon and Sunnyside) - Join your neighbors and CAPS police officers. CAPS supplies the hot dogs and drinks -- you can bring your smiling face and even a side dish! If you can't make it to the Park on Tuesday night, please participate in National Night Out by sitting outside of your building to show that you are the eyes and ears on the street."

Please note that this event is in lieu of the CAPS meeting that's usually at Truman College tonight. All the same police officers and beat facilitator will be there, so if you have concerns, please don't hesitate to bring it up to them.

Also -- Space Jam will be playing at Gill Park, 825 W Sheridan, as a Movie in the Park.  It begins at dusk.

  1. Did the cookout at Sunnyside mall happen? I was planning on showing, but had some concerns with the approaching weather front around 7pm that ended up missing us.

  2. It did. Not a huge crowd, but maybe 50 people? Target was there with bags of school supplies they were giving out to the kids. Hot dogs, chips, soda. The alderman was there, and so was the commander. Pretty good time.
