Ballpark Booms

According to a reader who's seen a good number of Paul McCartney concerts, the song Live And Let Die, when performed in outdoor venues, features three to four very loud pyrotechnic explosions that will probably be audible in Uptown.

So calm your frayed nerves tonight and tomorrow if you hear loud noises between 8pm and midnight.  Chances are, it's just Sir Paul at Wrigley Field.

  1. There is some kind of "sonic shadow" thing that occurs from Wrigley.

Depending on where you are in Uptown sometimes the sounds of cheering appear to be coming from the north.

So if you hear loud bangs and they seem like they are coming from the north it may just be McCartney.

Typically gunfire is a very "sharp" sound. So if it sounds more like a boom than a bang don't worry about it.

  4. I've lived in Uptown for over twenty years and I heard gunshots a few weeks back.

I've also heard them numerous times over the years in Uptown.
