"Spoil Me Hair Salon" Now Open At Broadway & Leland

"Spoil Me Hair Salon" is now open! The salon is in the corner space of the lovely rehabbed building right on the corner of Broadway and Leland, the same space the Uptown Snack Shop once called home. We've gotten some good reviews on the stylists from folks who have already stopped in so be sure to make an appointment. They are offering $20 off any service $45 and above for first time clients according to their website. You can also find Spoil Me on Facebook. Welcome to the neighborhood!

  1. What a great way to end this wonderful week! Stopping in to welcome a Woman-Owned business to the heart of Uptown!

  2. Welcome to Uptown! The shop looks great and I am happy to have them at that corner. I actually think that business makes a lot of sense there.

Good luck, and let's support our new neighbors.

  3. I am guessing that I am not the target male clientele, as I have never paid more than $20 for a haircut let alone $45.

Nice to see business in the community though....welcome!

  7. Michele,

hmmmmmm. Perhaps I should stop by the ape house at the Lincoln Park Zoo to see if they have a solution.

  9. I found myself yesterday for the first time ever promoting Uptown as a good neighborhood to open a business in.

We were eating at Wish Bone on Lincoln & School and talked to the manager and just happened to segue into talking about what a great addition this type of restaurant would be for Broadway in Uptown.

In the past, I would never have thought to say anything of this sort to a business owner - probably because in the back of my mind I felt that a business catering to a middle income clientele / yuppies / young families would not be welcomed with open arms to the ward by the aldermanic power structure.

Maybe I was wrong in my thinking, but that is how I had personally been made to feel whenever I had to deal with the alderman's office. The strange lobbying by COURAJ, etc. to keep prospering residents and businesses catering to them out in order to maintain the status quo only reinforced this feeling.

It feels good to be proud of our neighborhood again and tout its attributes to others outside of our ward. I hope it really is a new day!

  12. BP...its sad that things in this ward have gotten so out of control that people have to feel guilty about wanting a Wishbone type restaurant. Makes u wonder about who sets the stereotypes across the board.

  13. I went and got men's haircut there on Saturday. I'm usually a cost-cutters kind of guy but thought I'd try a new local biz. I don't know why I've been doing cheap haircuts for so long, since what they did to my hair was worth 2-3x what discount place do. The $20 off for new customers was great--I got to get some new hair paste :). I'm pretty sure I'll be back.

When I was talking to my stylist, he threw out that they'd "see how they do" with the pricing. They know it's not Lincoln Park, but it's always easier to lower prices than to raise them, right?

  14. I just got my hair cut by Matthew and he did a super job. I highly recommend giving the place a go, especially with the $20 discount. I'll definitely be going back. It's a great location, it's comfortable inside, good music, and Matthew is a great stylist, very friendly and helpful.
