Buena Park Neighbors Candidate Forum Tonight

A reminder that this evening, Buena Park Neighbors and the National Pastime Theater (4139 N. Broadway) are proud to be hosting a 46th Ward Aldermanic Candidate Forum from 7-9pm.  You'll have the opportunity to vote for the future of our ward in just two weeks!  Be informed; this is a chance to hear your next alderman speak about the issues and his/her vision of what Uptown can become over the next four years.

  1. What a great opportunity. Hopefully *all* candidates attend and bring their A game so citizens are well informed of their positions.

Not sure how many of these I can attend but this one works for me.

  4. I thought this forum was a great help and I was quite amazed they were able to get all 11 candidates to come (now I know what some of the more mysterious candidates look like).

I will say I was saddened when someone in the audience had to ask what a TIF was. Or someone else asked "what was your name again?". This goes back to my belief that we need to have an "UU poster" that we can put up in our building lobbies or on message boards to make sure that members of the community know about this great resource (especially given the lack of communication from our current alderman).

  6. Just got back to my campaign office after eating a late dinner. It was truly a wonderful time. Voters had a face-to-face experience with all the candidates. Live. I think this is what Democracy is. People have the absolute freedom to choose. I am so grateful for the American election system! Have a good one.

  7. The forum did turn out well. Thank you so much BPN's! I ended up liking 3 of the candidates out of the 11 that I will follow up on.

My biggest impression of the forum was that the candidates appeared to be as diverse as the community they wanted to be elected from. If there were some way to get them all into one candidate....

  8. UD, follow the money. Look at where these 3 candidates get their money, and that will give you a clue about who they will really represent. Are most of their contributions coming from a lot of residents living in the ward?
