Add another theatre to the Pantheon of Entertainment at Broadway and Lawrence (although we don't think Balaban & Katz are quaking in their boots yet). At 1142 W Lawrence, between Demera and Uptown Lounge, sits the unmarked entrance to The Basement, described by The Reader as "the boggy unfinished basement of an Uptown apartment building where the occasional stream of water bursts through the ceiling as though the building were pissing on the proceedings. It's a singular theatrical experience." Right now, The Censor is playing, Fridays and Saturdays only, though November 20th. You can read more about the play here; and more about the theatre here.
