Papa Ray's pizza and wings restaurant opened this week at 4757 N Sheridan. Please drop by for some 'za and show your support for this new family-owned Uptown business.
Here is your official review... We ordered tonight and overall it was a 5 star experience! Uptown needs to support Papa Ray's! First, the order taker when I called was very friendly. We ordered one order of garlic-parm wings, an order of mild buffalo wings, and an extra large half sausage/pepperoni pizza. The wings are awesome! I am a wing connoisseur since my partner is from Buffalo, NY. The pizza was very good -- not salty like most which is usually my beef. Certainly not greasy and very fresh tasting. As long as this place stays the same, is friendly, and has high quality standards, this place will become "our new favorite place!" My neighbors ordered from them tonight too! Next time, we will try the rib tips.
kerI went tonight with 2 others. We ordered 2 pizzas, one of them thin crust, the other not. We also ordered wings. And one huge, huge calzone. Plenty of food-3 drinks- all for 39.00. We had 7 slices of pizza left over, one wing, and half a calzone. All around good food and good portions. The slice (which is a lunch special) is HUGE...they have to put it in a box it is so big (not kidding!) and a good deal...we saw one being eaten. Also, use the website to order if you do delivery and they will not charge the $2.50 delivery charge...this from the worker. The owner Doug was cordial and very attentive. Seems like good people to me! Clean store, clean kitchen (you can see over counter that it is WELL maintained). I'll order again.
Picked up from Papa Ray's last night, and the experience was great. The monster slice deal is good: $3.99 for a monster slice and a can of pop. It's a 12-inch slice! Easily split between two people. Service was very friendly, and the pizza was tasty. My husband wants Papa Ray's again tonight!
Just finished enjoying my pizza from Papa Ray's. Excellent pizza and cheese bread. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. This is a GREAT addition to Uptown (especially on that corner). Make sure we all support them!!
Stopped bye today. The wife and I split a monster slice and each had a soda for just over $5. The pizza was very good. The service was very good, and the price was great!maxp0411
Was anyone able to order online? I tried based on what "DP" mentioned, but when I put in my address it only listed the Fullerton location as an option.
Based on the comments here, I decided to give Papa Ray's a chance.
Eating my first slice, and stopped to pop on here and go holy heck, this is good chow. I'm eating the "Meat-atarian" pizza.
Definitely highly recommended. (And in case you had a touch of cynicism in the back of your head and were wondering if this is an astroturf campaign -- evidently no, because the pizza is really just that good.)
Also just wanted to reiterate what others have said. They were extremely friendly on the phone, extremely fast with the delivery, and had great tasting pizza. Plus amazing macaroni and cheese if you're feeling adventurous. Thanks UU!
Hey Fear and loathing, We were getting the basic online ordering system where we would have to actually type the order in ourselves when we recieved it. But now since we have been so busy from the start we upgraded to the system that puts your orders strait to the kitchen printer so the food is at your door even faster than it has been.. On average it saves about 5 minutes.. The service is provided by www.Customer2you.com if you were interested!! Hopefully by friday it will be working but might give me some problems in the begining..
Which is better? The thin crust or regular crust??? I wasn't that impressed with the regular crust, a little too thick for me. Maybe I caught them on a bad day???? Good thing is they seem very busy, I think it was over an hour and ten for delivery, which is okay because most good pizza places arent there in "30 minutes or less".
1 problem with their website-does not display the Phone no. to call in quick site.
ReplyDeleteIs the pizza any good? Reviews?
ReplyDeleteMolbop, it's on the awning in the photo. 773-754-0394. (Not saying it shouldn't be on the website, but it is available now.)
ReplyDeleteJQL - try here for more info. I look forward to local reviews as well!

ReplyDelete...and, I forgot to mention, our order was at our door in 45 minutes. I found no "new opening pains..." Try it out!

ReplyDeleteI ordered a specialty pizza (BBQ Chicken) and it was pretty good. I'll definitely go again and support this local pizza place.

ReplyDeleteOrder from Papa Ray's tonight. GREAT pizza, friendly service, and hopes that they will help clean up the corner of Sheridan and Lawrence.
