If you want to vote in November, you've got to register by Tuesday, October 5th.
Click on the buttons at the top of the sidebar to find out how to register, or to check your current registration.
Do it now... and you'll be all set for the local elections in February, when we'll choose two new Uptown aldermen and a new Chicago mayor.
Yes please register. Those who just complain about how things are being run and never vote makes no sense to me. Get out and vote in November to make a real change. Like a new congress as this one we have now sure is not getting it. Also don`t forget and miss the chance to vote a new alderman and mayor.
ReplyDeleteI agree, this Congress isn't working, we need to get rid of Boehner and all the Republicans holding up progress!
ReplyDeleteChiTownPhily. Who is the ones running it now and spending more money in 2 years then bush did in 8and not to mention all the taxes that will increase from the state up to the federal next year thanks to this majority Congress in Washington now. When you all start seeing your pay-checks get smaller and smaller you will be sorry you did not vote for a change in Congress. Better get everyone to vote and make real change.
ReplyDeleteWiseguy, why would I vote for GOP candidates that largely hold bigotted views, do not support gay rights, and will not so much as even work with the current congress? Republicans won't even debate bills being proposed let alone vote on them! What has the Republican party done in the last two years OTHER THAN SAY NO TO EVERYTHING democrats have proposed? Why would I hand over congressional power to a party that failed to do anything during the EIGHT years they were in power? As far as your comment about "spending more money in 2 years then bush did in 8and not to mention all the taxes that will increase from the state up to the federal next year thanks to this majority Congress in Washington now." Really? I wonder, did the Obama administration go to war? No, that was the right saying we needed to increase troops and spend trillions in the middle east. Was it the Obama administration that triggered the financial collapse? No, it was Obama who saved us from worse trouble by implementing the stimulus bill. Was it Obama who bailed out the 'too big to fail' companies (i.e. banks car companies etc)? No, that was President Bush who implemented the biggest SOCIALIST Policy I can recall seeing since Ive been alive. Why should my taxes go to bailing out failed businesses? Isn't the republican party all about capitalism, sink or swim? Why would I vote for republican candidates that constantly lie and mislead the american people? Im not going to be brainwashed. I, unlike almost every republican Ive heard, have no problem paying higher taxes. Have you ever considered ideas that would help the USA get out of this deficit? How can the republicans cry for less spending yet also call for lower taxes?!?!?! Do your research and start voting rationally. Anyone who votes GOP or Tea Party in November is voting for us to return to the dark ages. No Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWise guy,
ReplyDelete1) Who is the ones running it now and spending more money in 2 years then bush did in 8.
It is not Obama. The sin that Obama committed is that he decided to included the costs of the two wars in the budget while the Bush administration kept it off the books. Fox news doesn't tell you that. Step one pal. Get off the fox news unless you watch O'Reilly. I can't believe people don't know this.
2) Also, the increase you are discussing is not a raise in taxes, it is the expiration of temporary tax cuts.
3) @ CHItown Philly - I agree with you on many points, but I am voting for Brady for Illinois governor. (I may still vote for Cohen depending on my mood.) I know Brady is a crazy anti-abortion, gay bashing asshole. This gives me pause. But, really, what is he going to do? Unilaterally overrule the US Supreme Court? The only thing he can do is oppose gay marriage in Illinois. That pisses me off, but the alternative is a free-spending democratic machine in Illinois, and I never thought that I needed state-sanction to have a marriage. I am just too sick of Illinois dems.
WISEGUY, are you afraid to say what you feel for all? Well all, this is just the beginning of the email WISEGUY aka catfishface1@gmail.com sent me in response to my latest comment..."You should write for the President. You can spread more lies them he does. Well after November, weather you like it or not, we will see how much of your socialist ideas can be passed to destory the country I love. I am not black but here is something I feel you should know about your party that few do. I am not here to fight about what party is best for this country but wait and see who is right and who is wrong. I am retired out of the system. I made my money the old fashioned way not your way being a leech off the government. Maybe thats why I retired at 55.
ReplyDeleteWhy Martin Luther King Was Republican
It should come as no surprise that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Republican. In that era, almost all black Americans were Republicans. Why? From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S's: slavery, secession, segregation and now socialism....."
Please WISEGUY, tell me what african americans or the outdated history of our political parties has to do with our on? Are you too afraid to display your ignorant bigotry to the rest of the community?
Guys/gals -- this isn't the Sun-Times comments section. Let's try to stay at least nominally on topic, which is ... drum roll ... the deadline to register to vote.
