Uptown's Gangs: Exporting Services

Apparently Uptown has so many gangbangers that they're diversifying by helping gangs in other parts of the city.  From an article in the Sun-Times about three felons being charged with possession of weapons after a drive-by shooting in Garfield Park early Sunday morning:

"Ronnie Mitchell, 32, of the 4700 block of North Clark St., also an alleged gang member and the driver of the vehicle, was arrested after a brief foot chase through the parking lot. He is charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and cited for traveling 21 to 25 miles an hour above the speed limit..."  Read the whole article here.

We have to wonder if he's the same 'banger who spray-painted gang signs upside down outside his rental apartment on Clark a while back.

  3. I am so sick of gangs and the shit they rain down on us. We need to change the laws: If you are arrested and convicted of gang related crimes, you stay in jail for the rest of your life - No parol! If you are a known gang member and commit any type of crime; go to jail for the rest of your life - No parol.

  4. Is there anything different in Garfield Park that allowed the cops to arrest him, or did they get lucky?

  5. - Hopeless

I'm with you. They should be charged with domestic terrorism and left to rot in a cell. Our legislators need the heat put on them in order to get laws that work in place.

  6. Why does this not surprise me? In this day and age of globalism, why shouldn't gangs on one side of the city outsource themselves to other areas of the city?

They have iphones and email. They have facebook and twitter. Don't you think this makes them better able to communicate cross border?

It's hightime these gangs joined the 21st century like everyone else.

    (satire...sigh)
