Bric To School

Just in time for the school year to begin next month, the bricolages being applied to the the front of Uplift School are nearly complete and looking good.  We presume the artwork is by Alternatives, but can't find anything online to confirm, one way or the other.

  3. These bricolages are incredible. I would love to see more of them throughout the community. One spot in particular that I think would be great would be the pedestrian tunnel under Lake Shore Drive at Buena. The tunnel leads to the Peace Garden, which would make for a great theme, particularly in light of the violence currently occurring in our own community, the city as a whole and around the world. The Peace Garden has a sign that says peace in multiple languages. It would be cool to carry this multi-cultural peace theme through to our community on the other side of LSD.

  4. I'd love to see the Uplift kids teach kids at other area schools how to do this. Maybe that would be a way to get more of them throughout the community.

  5. I don't think this is appropriate for the side of buildings and wonder what the long term maintenance costs or if it affects the structure.

This is the last week the project will progressed on, and saturday we will have a dedication the the mural. Though i do not have a specific time for it, you may come tomorrow between 10 and 2 for more information. P.s. it is also another project done by Alternatives!
