What's Free About Tax Day?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Tax Foundation, Tax Freedom Day arrived on April 9 this year, the 99th day of 2010. Americans worked well over three months of the year—from January 1 to April 9—before they have earned enough money to pay this year's tax obligations at the federal, state and local levels.
That date might be in June for the 47% of persons who actually pay taxes (and the corruption surcharge) in Chicago and Crook County.
Tax freedom date might be off into perpetuity for the handful of people who pay taxes in Uptown's Wilson Yard TIF.
