The Way We Were

A reader clued us in to an eBay auction for matchbooks celebrating the Sheridan Plaza Hotel (which you can almost see behind all the ever-present scaffolding these days), back when smoking was suave, matchbooks were art, and the Sheridan Plaza was one of Chicago's finest all-amenities residential hotels.  Read about its heyday here and some of its history here.

  2. Have you ever walked into the lobby of Sheridan Plaza? I don't know if is has changed recently but it used to be like walking into the Palmer House lobby.
