The Tribune has an interesting article about Sun Wah Bar-B-Q and the adjustment its owners have had to make since moving to a larger space on Broadway from a storefront on Argyle. (And we thought we had problems with sibling rivalry!)
"Since the move, it's gone overnight from a well-regarded, low-key Argyle institution to a higher-profile Uptown foodie destination with a renewed vitality, a broader clientele and a much-buzzed-about duck." Read why The knives are out at Sun Wah.
The duck, chicken and pork are THE best!!
ReplyDeleteWin a few, lose a few...while Sun Wah undergoes "Growing Pains" the Annette's Broasted Chicken outlet at Montrose & Clark quietly closes.
ReplyDeleteSo now, with the Loco and Annette's both out of business, where do we go for some first-rate cooked chicken to go?
Chipotle (mexican restaurant)
ReplyDeleteP.F. Chang's (Chinese restaurant)
Jimmy' John's (Local deli/sub)
Panera Bread (Local Bakery)
Auntie Anne's (hotdog/pretzel stand)
See a trend here? authentic ethnic/family owned businesses are being taken over by corporations. They create a contemporary ambience to attract mostly upper class customers. It just boggles me that the daughter never saw this coming. Why was she surprised that they lost their regular ethnic customers?
