Cooling Crime Hot Spots?

A reader brought this article to our attention.  "A mathematical model of crime finds that some hot spots can be permanently cleaned up by police, while others will only crop up elsewhere after police move in. The model could help police departments focus on areas where they can effectively fight crime."

Read about it in Wired Science.  Do you think Uptown can benefit from this?

  1. This more scientific approach to crime fighting does work, but is often shouted down as "racist" or "profiling" and therefore not used. Too bad...
