“Totally untrue.” –Michael Caine, the owner of Kuma’s Corner (2900 W. Belmont Ave.; 773-604-8769), in response to rumors that he’s secured a place in Uptown for a second Kuma’s. While it’s true that he wants to open a second location and that Uptown is his number-one neighborhood for it, Caine is putting off scouting a place until after he recovers from a knee surgery next month.
Academy award winner Michael Caine?
ReplyDeleteAt one time, Kuma's on Diversey was a decent place to hang. Now the LOUD heavy metal music and elbow-to-elbow douchebag factor is so high that it makes anything else sound like a better idea.
ReplyDeleteI love Kuma's -- especially the fact that there are burger options for folks like me who don't eat red meat. Don't mind anything except the wait, which is insane.
ReplyDeleteI find myself going over there for lunch on weekdays... any other time means a long wait outside. I'm too old to be thrilled enough about anywhere I have to wait in line to spend money.
I'm thrilled to find out that Uptown is the owner's first pick for a second restaurant. Could be great for businesses nearby the new location, whatever it may be.
:(
ReplyDeleteI make a point of not patronizing any restaurants that require absurd wait times. I guarantee that I can find equal or better fare somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteI would be so happy to see Kumas in Uptown!
ReplyDeleteNo one goes to Kuma's anymore. It's too crowded.
ReplyDeleteTweed, I get it! haha!
ReplyDeleteWasn't there some talk that he might be opening a soul food restaurant on Broadway? Is there still going to be a soul food place there? (hope so)
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a place that could do better than the Lair of the Minotaur burger, med rare with a nice beer. But until then, I will be Kuma's biatch.
