This is a little like bringing coal to Newcastle, but a reader tells us that yesterday evening, two men released an entire colony of white mice in the middle of the Buena Park Circle playlot. The mice are apparently quite tame and were approaching the children and congregating on the rocks.
So... this creates an unsanitary situation for the kids who play there. It has the potential to create many more generations of mice who call Buena Park Circle home. And if the people who did it thought they were being great "humanitarians," well, guess what, guys, tame white mice don't have great outdoors skills.
As our reader says, "What in the heck were these guys doing with all those white mice? And why on earth would the release them in a playlot full of children?" If anyone saw anything and can help identify the people who dumped them, please post here. The police, Park District and Board of Health have been contacted.
I think we need some of those lost cats from earlier posts to come on down to Buena Circle Park.

What a bunch of fools to have done this. With colder weather coming this is the time of year mice run into surrounding basements to call it their home. I hope someone did see them and can report them....
ReplyDeleteAm I missing something? The report says that a reader reports that "two men" released the mice. Then you ask if anyone has any information. Doesn't the person who reported this have information?? Was it reported by him/her immediately?
ReplyDeleteThe reader did report it to the police immediately. They are hoping for further information that will lead to who those two guys were (and answer the nagging question, WHY did they have all those mice?!)
ReplyDeleteI guessing their pet snake died. That or it got too big and had to move on to Rats instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat if these are lab rats carrying disease; rats that some hospital lab has performed experiments on? They should have been euthanized or taken to a pet store, anywhere except released into the community.
