Nearby Farmers Markets

Uptown's "baked goods farmer's market" was cancelled this year, but the 48th Ward newsletter points out two open-air summer markets in Edgewater:
  • The Edgewater Farmers Market, one of the oldest community markets in the City, will be held on Saturdays, from 7am to Noon at the corner of Broadway and Norwood (6034 North). The market opens on June 20 and runs through the end of October.

  • It is joined this year by the Andersonville Farmers Market on Berwyn (5300 N) between Clark and Ashland. The market will run on Wednesdays, 4pm - 8pm, beginning June 24 and going through September 9.

Both will offer a wide selection of produce as well as flowers, eggs, breads and other artisan-made products with the emphasis on organically-grown and locally-produced foods. Both also will be selling CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) subscriptions and have CSA pick up at the markets. When you subscribe to a CSA, you receive a box of produce directly from the farm each week.
