Abhay - I laughed at the same East Lakeview sign! Those places are 1.2M each, definitely need an East Lakeview title vs. Buena Park or, worse, Uptown.
I personally like "Wrigleyville North". I've seen that referenced in recent real estate ads. But perhaps that also scares away potential buyers, since that is the name of the sketchy dive bar on Byron & Sheffield.
i encourage this. andersonville and ravenswood are stronger brands... why would anyone who lives in sheridan park not want people to confuse their stomping grounds with the more desirable hoods mentioned above.
I think we need to start up a good old fashioned welcome wagon!
"Your neighbors proudly welcome you to U P T O W N !"
(Sorry you thought you lived in Andersonville, Wrigleyville North, East Lakeview, North Lakeview, Lincoln Park-Lakeshore or South Edgewater. There is no denying that you are one of us now!)
I'll leave it to the rest of you snarks out there to determine what items should be put in the gift basket.
Just wait, a few years from now real estate agents may describe Uptown as Lincoln Park North. By that time O'Hare will be part of West Lincoln Park West.
The agents can really come up with good names to call everything in areas that is not so desired. Remember the projects always had a nice garden name like Stateway gardens and Ida B wells manor. Maybe the name for Wilson year should be the Uptown paradise Gardens or Helens haven complex...
I think a lot of people think of Clark as the border between Uptown and East Ravenswood. And you'd be surprised how many people view the area between Foster, Lawrence, Ashland and Ravenswood Ave. as "South Andersonville."
What is funny about the 700 W Buena listing is that if we were to approach Mario Greco about the incorrect information, the former-attorney-turned-real-estate-agent would point out that it is indeed Lakeview Township, to which I would cringe to no end.
As a Real Estate agent, it ticks me off to see that crap. I saw a listing at Lawrence and east of Sheridan being marketed as Buena Park? What? People are nuts. I actually turned down an opportunity to work on that listing on Buena because the developer was asking way too much and you can't call that Lakeview. I don't care what "Township" it's in. You can't shine a turd, but some of my fellow Realtors sure do try hard.
I wonder why (sarcasm)..
ReplyDeleteGot a better one -- 700 block of West Buena is East Lakeview.

HAD my place on the market. No one wanted to live Shillerville.

Actually legally Uptown is Lakeview Township.

ReplyDeleteI thought it was South Kenilworth.
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should call it J.S.O.E.
ReplyDeleteJust South of Evanston
They're trying to turn our neck of north Uptown, west of Broadway SOFO - Which I am guessing is South of Foster.
ReplyDeleteOk.......

ReplyDeleteI dont care what they call it if it helps get people to buy here.

ReplyDeleteHere is a single building simultaneously in Edgewater, Buena Park, Lakeview, and "Uptown/Buena Park":
