Time flies, folks. Hard to believe it has been
two years today since the
first posting on Uptown Update. It's been hard work, at times, to keep this blog going and luckily we have a great group of people who help bring UU to you every day. We've been through a lot (
hello, subpoenas?) and have seen quite a few good changes in Uptown as a result of people speaking out on UU. Our readership continues to grow, from around 500 page hits in the beginning (which we were ecstatic about then) to close to
6,000 hits a day now, which is mind-boggling. With your help, UU can only get better. Thanks for contributing, reading, and commenting.
Happy Birthday, Uptown Update!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! Thanks for all the help in making our neighborhood safer.
ReplyDeleteWow, Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the terrible two's.
Now maybe you all can grow up....
ReplyDelete;-) JOKE! j/k! Happy anniversary.
Ha ha. That was exactly what I was going to say about the terrible twos, Chip. However, I have been through them enough to never speak ill of them. They always get ME in the end!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Uptown Update! I hope you keep up your excellent work for the community. While Uptown is far from perfect, we can count on you to inform us of the bad and the good.
ReplyDeleteCheers.
happy birthday :) thank you for your commitment to uptown!
ReplyDeleteCongrats. For better or worse, this blog has been important. A lot of the commentators?...not so much.
ReplyDeleteZING!
Will there be a party? I want cake and ice cream.
ReplyDeleteIf not for this website, things would be considerably worse in this ward. No doubt.
ReplyDeleteThis site is a growing "balance" against all of those crazy "checks" that Shiller keeps sliding over to her clout heavy friends.
Stick it to the man, y'all!
Can I get an "amen"?
Amen!
ReplyDeleteYour contribution to transparency is priceless!
Jason,
ReplyDeleteYou almost always impress me.
This site has created a great virtual community in only 2 short years!
ReplyDeleteSo, the latest crusade (FWY) wasn't victorious.....damn...
The next election MUST produce a better result!!!!!
Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job, and we wish you the very best in the future.
What ever happened to those subpoenas, anyway?
Happy anniversary!

ReplyDeletecongratulations UU... thank you for all your dedication and hard work!!
Thanks uptown girl, very few people understand my sense of humor on this blog...
ReplyDeleteThe power of the "google" brings you these birthday songs:
ReplyDeleteSatanSatan Part Deux
Beatles"Ave Ceasar, Morituri te salutant" or "Hail Ceasar, we who are about to die salute you" is one of the more famous passages in historic writings.
Today using my grasp of Latin and the Guinness in my hand I say:
"Ave Uptown Update, Subpoenai te Salutant".
Which roughtly translates as
"Hail Uptown Update, we who are about to be subpoenaed salute you."
There are three songs in the above post. I either need to stop drinking or .........well that ain't gonna happen.
ReplyDeleteSongs:
Satan
Satan part Deux
Beatles
Click on each for a total of three times and perhaps you'll end up in Kansas or Lincoln Park.
It a valued job you do and may it continue many more years. We all look forward to helping make our area safe and healthy......
ReplyDeleteJason and Uptown Girl sitting in a tree...
ReplyDeleteHey, she's a babe!!! Wayne's World, Wayne's World....
ReplyDeleteSorry, long week and I'm a little loopy...
;-)
Can't blame Jason. Chicks on bikes ... oy!
ReplyDeleteWell since you seem to like the idea of "Chicks on Bikes" here is a blog to satisfy your twisted fetish.
ReplyDeleteOk:
ReplyDelete1 - You supplied that link entirely too quickly.
2 - Those are bike-bikes. Not motor-type bikes. It's all about the combustion, baby.
Yo,
ReplyDeletedepends on how you define "combustion".
Hey IP. I like the bike blog. It inspired me to spice my wardrobe up a little bit.
ReplyDeleteUU...Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteIn honor of your birthday, here is my favorite web blog for you to ponder:
Cake Wrecks
Wow, happy birthday! This following is a terrific accomplishment in just two short years. Thanks for bringing so much of the community together, UU!
ReplyDeleteOh, UU with your inebriated birthday celebration you missed some Uptown related news.
ReplyDelete1. Montrose Beach may be opened to surfing. I see some doctored pics of Daley, Shiller, and Holsten surfing on Lake Michigan in the future.
2. Helen Shiller questions placement of potential Olympic tennis courts.3. Sun Times does a big story about how affordable housing and TIF dollars benefited some clouted individuals. I am personally SHOCKED to find out such a thing would happen.
4. I'm sober at the moment.
5. That moment has passed.
Dear UU,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all U do to raise the bar on what's going on in our neighborhood and City. Now that we know all of the crap that we're paying for to line the City's
#@&! policies that are robbing us blind; it's time to remember,
"In a democracy, citizens get the government they deserve."
Too bad that we live in a republic, not a democracy, but whatever.
