UU Turns Two

Time flies, folks. Hard to believe it has been two years today since the first posting on Uptown Update. It's been hard work, at times, to keep this blog going and luckily we have a great group of people who help bring UU to you every day. We've been through a lot (hello, subpoenas?) and have seen quite a few good changes in Uptown as a result of people speaking out on UU. Our readership continues to grow, from around 500 page hits in the beginning (which we were ecstatic about then) to close to 6,000 hits a day now, which is mind-boggling. With your help, UU can only get better. Thanks for contributing, reading, and commenting.

  5. Ha ha. That was exactly what I was going to say about the terrible twos, Chip. However, I have been through them enough to never speak ill of them. They always get ME in the end!!

  10. If not for this website, things would be considerably worse in this ward. No doubt.

This site is a growing "balance" against all of those crazy "checks" that Shiller keeps sliding over to her clout heavy friends.

Stick it to the man, y'all!

    Can I get an "amen"?

  11. Amen!

Your contribution to transparency is priceless!

  19. The power of the "google" brings you these birthday songs:

    SatanSatan Part Deux
    Beatles
"Ave Ceasar, Morituri te salutant" or "Hail Ceasar, we who are about to die salute you" is one of the more famous passages in historic writings.

Today using my grasp of Latin and the Guinness in my hand I say:

"Ave Uptown Update, Subpoenai te Salutant".

    Which roughtly translates as

"Hail Uptown Update, we who are about to be subpoenaed salute you."

  20. There are three songs in the above post. I either need to stop drinking or .........well that ain't gonna happen.

    Songs:

    Satan

    Satan part Deux

    Beatles

Click on each for a total of three times and perhaps you'll end up in Kansas or Lincoln Park.

  24. Can't blame Jason. Chicks on bikes ... oy!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well since you seem to like the idea of "Chicks on Bikes" here is a blog to satisfy your twisted fetish.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ok:

1 - You supplied that link entirely too quickly.

2 - Those are bike-bikes. Not motor-type bikes. It's all about the combustion, baby.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yo,

depends on how you define "combustion".

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hey IP. I like the bike blog. It inspired me to spice my wardrobe up a little bit.

  30. Wow, happy birthday! This following is a terrific accomplishment in just two short years. Thanks for bringing so much of the community together, UU!

  31. Oh, UU with your inebriated birthday celebration you missed some Uptown related news.

    1. Montrose Beach may be opened to surfing. I see some doctored pics of Daley, Shiller, and Holsten surfing on Lake Michigan in the future.

    2. Helen Shiller questions placement of potential Olympic tennis courts.3. Sun Times does a big story about how affordable housing and TIF dollars benefited some clouted individuals. I am personally SHOCKED to find out such a thing would happen.

    4. I'm sober at the moment.

    5. That moment has passed.

  32. Dear UU,
Thanks for all U do to raise the bar on what's going on in our neighborhood and City. Now that we know all of the crap that we're paying for to line the City's
#@&! policies that are robbing us blind; it's time to remember,

"In a democracy, citizens get the government they deserve."

    ReplyDelete
  33. Too bad that we live in a republic, not a democracy, but whatever.
