Want to see who's giving the big (and small) bucks for campaign contributions? The Tribune has a searchable database,
here. Of course, the 46th Ward has had
"Helen's Money" to peruse for some time now, but you can check all the candidates at the
Tribune site, quickly and easily.
What corruption?
ReplyDeleteI don't see anything ...
Oh. Wait.
Target 1000 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis Mn 1,000.00 12/03/08 Citizens For Shiller
Walsh Construction 929 W Adams Chicago Il 200.00 07/10/06 Citizens For Shiller
Walsh Construction 929 W Adams Chicago Il 1,000.00 11/20/08 Citizens For Shiller
Loooots of money from Sam Banks, John Cullerton, Barack Obama, Rahm Emanuel.
Oh, and this:
Citizens For Gregory Harris 5359 N Magnolia Chicago Il 300.00 05/20/08 Citizens For Shiller
Curiously, nothing from "Holsten Mgt" in a few years.
But, here's a fun one (remember the developer who took off w/$10M worth of peoples' investments, last year?):
Sunrise Equities 6355 N Claremont Chicago Il 1,000.00 06/13/08 Citizens For Shiller
Developers, lawyers, architects, Zoning Committee chairs and crooks are giving Helen lots of convenient dough.
Oh, and state representatives.
Pay to Play all the way, baby!
Shiller's list of contributors just outlines the business and/or politicians I WILL NOT support. Spending money at these places is essentially giving money right back to Shiller. No thanks.

ReplyDeleteBrendan Shiller: $56.94
Hilarious, yo! I noticed that too. Not $57.00 or even a nice round $60, but 56.94! LOL.
ReplyDeleteIt's a little depressing to see how many businesses I frequent have donated to Helen's campaign. Fontana Grill and Nick's Uptown to name a couple. This only leads meed to wonder if there are some pretty serious consequences to be had if business doesn't donate. What am I talking about....of course there are.
I'd rather default to the notion that businesses who have donated to Citizens for Shiller did so with one hand on the check book, the other cohereced uncomfortably between their shoulder blades.
ReplyDeleteThough, as I'm reviewing some TIF docs, I see that one or two of those donating got a nice little slice from the WY TIF pie.
So, it really does pay to play (somewhere in the $115,000 range, to be roughly specific).
Fontana had trouble expediting their liquor license.
ReplyDeleteThe simple thing to do is stop in, buy a glass, and ask them why they donated to Shiller.
Can someone tell me why the City of Chicago Dept of Finance would be giving Mary Ann Smith tens of thousands of dollars?
