Breaking news:
See Y. Wong to revitalize Wilson Yard redevelopment with new towers

Posted 4/1/2009 by Joseph Askins

Wabash Properties CEO See Y. Wong may be the luckiest man on the Near South Side, but will his brand of building magic work in Uptown?

Wong, the developer of such successes as the 1349 South Wabash Private Residences tower in the South Loop and the Grand Imperial Hotel in Chinatown, announced today that he will replace Holsten Development as the developer of the embattled Wilson Yard project, located near Montrose Avenue and Broadway in Uptown. "Consider Wilson Yard fixed," Wong said in a brief interview this morning. "Uptown is ready to resolve the problems it's faced with this development, and I'll walk from one Chinatown to another to make sure that happens."

  2. In a sign of gratitude toward the buildings' namesake, he plans to offer Ald. Helen Shiller her choice of either of the buildings' top-floor penthouses, "from which she can look down on her ward as its humble guardian."

    Snort! ;-)

  6. April's just fooling us on this nice day. The real joke is Peter Holsten who is Helen's flying monkey. Speaking of flying monkeys, do I spy a tornado cloud over WY?

  7. 2 additional 40 story high rises. that's where I got suspicious. but I would like to see Helen forced to live in her new building when it is finished. How quickly would the zoning change then?

  8. Ray, Helen's a "do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do" kinda person. She'd never let any of her family live anywhere near Wilson Yard. Hell, she and Brendan and the grandkids live in Andersonville! Mrs.Helen'sMother lives in a very pricey retirement home in Edgewater - do you think there's even the remotest possibility she'd move to Wilson Yard Senior Housing? Nope.

  10. I know. But you can always hope for karmic justice. That's what I'm asking Santa for x-mas this year. That's all I want.

  17. It's not funny.

It's not well written. If your going to be funny....and have a sense of humour...that's ok...if you don't...don't bother anyone into wasting their time.
