Of course, my comment was quickly removed. But times must be hard for this biz if they're going for "cash only" sales on certain items.

I asked about the relationship between Crew and UU once too and got no answer....but as a blogger myself (Edgewater Crime Blotter) I will defend the UU and say there may not be any relationship, we're only as smart as the info we receive from the outside & readers or that we can dig up ourselves.

I'm not speaking for UU but I think it has gotten personal with billyjoe. He's such a "Debbie Downer" I think UU is just tired of seeing his name.

Such censoring makes me wonder if I would ever want to support a candidate for office that is supported by this site. It appears that they would be the same as Shiller, just quell the opposition at all costs! Never admit you are wrong! It is exactly what we don't need.
People should try to pay more attention to what Obama really stands for and follow his example.

Does it really matter who UU is? How many of you know who I am? Does it make my comments any better or worse? And I, too, don't mind Billy Joe's comments. Sometimes he/she is a little off base, but so am I on occasion. We all are. Like the man said, "Loosen up."

ReplyDeleteLet me clarify, we go out of our way to support most any business in Uptown that needs a bit of advertising. Whether it is Crew, Kahawa House, Fontana Grill, Unique So Chique, Alternatives, etc. We, like most residents, want to see Uptown businesses flourish, especially in these challenging economic times. Read whatever you want into it. We will continue to promote whomever writes in asking for a little advertising. It does get tiresome when commenters question why a certain business receives publicity...the simple answer is, because they wrote in. Now back on topic.
Oddly enough, I'm beginning to despise Evanston, simply because of Billjoe's loopy comments.

Someone mentioned that the U So C owner is running a business using a dial-up Internet connection. Obviously, this might not be the truth, but if so, it's no way to run a business in today's high-speed access world.
As Unique does have a Web site (just checked) I doubt that the "dial-up" claim is true.

ReplyDeleteYour right BJ. I know nothing about Roberts store. Never been there. Never met the guy. Ive never volunteered with WAMA. I have never ate at his place. I don't live 200 yards from his store. My family doesn't consider him a friend.
Now back to the real world..

ReplyDeletePlease get over the fact that UU deletes your comments. I went through the same battle with them last summer. Then I came to an understanding...ITS NOT PERSONAL.
You have to look at UU like a house. They own the house so they can make the house rules. Do you let people come in to your house and do as they please? Or do you ask them to take their shoes off, use a coaster, ect? Its not personal..you just want to keep your house nice and eventually you pick friends who not only respect you, but your house.
So that being said, you need to learn to get your point across without offending the house rules. I had to....

ReplyDeleteI'm with Chip on this. I, too, have had my share of comments deleted from posts. And not even my most offensive ones (believe me when I say I've posted some pretty offensive stuff). I don't know why they delete or how they determine what is deleted but they do and I don't take offense at all. Like he says, it's their house. We are just all thankful this forum is here for without it we would be like dust in the wind. All to Helen's delight.
