Work On The Uptown Broadway Building Continues

The Uptown Broadway Building has added new wood (and brass?) doors to replace the 1960s-looking glass and metal ones that were there for so long. Given the quality of the restoration and the painstaking attention to detail, we're guessing that the new doors are based on the design the UBB sported in its heyday. We so can't wait to see this grand old building when it's completely restored.
Update: We came across this old photo of the main entrance (below), and as you can see, the new doors are very close to the original.

  1. I never understand why places don't take the little extra steps to be accurate. It looks like there's only 3 inconsistencies: The rails are wider, there's no push plate, and there isn't a brass plate at the bottom.

  2. This building keeps getting nicer and nicer looking. Can't wait to see it completed! My gf and I peeked through the old doors into the entryway a weekend or two ago, after seeing the last set of pics here.

  3. I'm sure they will add the kick-plate. Consider how expensive it must be to replicate the original details.
What they've done so far, is fantastic.

  4. Those would not be especially expensive, especially when compared to the price and impeccable quality of the other facade improvements. It's like wearing a plastic belt buckle with an Armani suit.

  5. Walked by late this morning and it looks fantastic. Can't wait to see it with tenants, etc.
