It’s interesting that Republicans are finally tying Obama to Shiller, who probably loathe each other’s political stances, not unlike Daley who is finally chummy with Alderman Shiller for his own personal political gain and to keep the leftists of the city quiet.

Uptown was once home to the Young Patriots, a group of impoverished Appalachian whites who were aligned with the Black Panther Party. Helen Shiller, a white woman, started out as a fire breathing socialist very much influenced by Panther ideology. Today she is a tame ally of Mayor Richard M. Daley.”
After the last aldermanic election I attended the post-ballot party for James Cappelman at the Holiday Club at Irving and Sheridan (there was a fire down the block that night) and I got to witness first hand the disapointment of Cappelman's volunteers. In addition to disapointment more than a few people had stories concerning the underhanded and likely illegal tactics of the Shiller campaign; there was talk of out of towners who were still registered in the ward, there was talk of Shiller supporters literally dragging drunken homeless people into the polling places, the dishonest and sometimes disgusting accusations that were made against James, the list went on and on. At that event a very liberal woman told me that it was almost enough to turn her into a Republican. Months before, when the campaign kicked off at the Magnolia Cafe I recall warning people that Shiller would go after the fact that James is a gay man, the folks I was talking to objected due to the fact that both James and Shiller are Democrats. Well, Shiller went after James for not being the right kind of gay man, her minnions even described James as a Nazi.
ReplyDeleteWell here we are 17 months later and in Ohio there have been complaints of Democrats playing the same games with the homeless with the quirk that for nearly a week people could register and vote absentee at the same time. Here in Chicago we are used to homeless shelters having ballot participation that would make a dictator proud. In Ohio the Secratary of State has refused to allow observers to the polling, the same Democratic Secretary of State has refused to process voter registrations sent in by Republicans and let's not forget that ACORN is in the state enrolling Mickey Mouse to vote in a variety of locales. ACORN employees have been fingered and prosecuted for voter registration fraud across the nation. Interestingly the The Obama campaign and the Democratic Party (with the help of big media)are going after Sarah Palin in disgraceful manners, no matter what one thinks of Gov. Palin the attacks against her and her family have been beyond the pale, some jerk at the Atlantic is still claiming that she is not the mother of her youngest child and some have been trafficing in the idea that the child is her daughter's and that her husband is the father. There have been bloggers along with FactCheck.org keeping track of the dishonest stories concerning Palin, one blogger had nearly 100 debunked Democratic claims about Palin and that was a month ago. He noticed something very interesting about those lies, every three days he found coordinated lies concerning Palin that involved finances.
Oh yeh, last week there were accusations of voter registration fraud involving ACORN in Lake County, Indiana, the same county that delayed their primary totals until well after the rest of the state count was in, a handy trick that has been used for years here in Chicago. There were also reports that the ACORN offices in Gary and Milwaukee (another place with ACORN vote fraud problems) were closed. I checked it out and the phones for ACORN in Milwaukee have indeed been disconnected and the phones in Gary had a phone company generated message that they were not in their office. Obama once worked as a community arganizer for ACORN.
It has become more clear to me that Obama's campaign and the Democrats in general are running a campaign that is straight out of the Helen Shiller/Walter "Slim" Coleman handbook. I am sure that this will not cahnge any minds but there is no denying that the two campaigns are like peas in a pod.
