Uptown Man Fatally Shot In Head On West Side

An argument on the street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side early Saturday ended with a 28-year-old Uptown man fatally shot in the head.

About 12:50 a.m., the victim and another man got into an argument, which escalated into a scuffle on the 2100 block of South Pulaski Road, according to police News Affairs.

One of the men involved in the scuffle took out a handgun and shot the man in the head, police said.

Nawez Muhammed, of the 900 block of West Winona St., was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 3:30 a.m., a Cook County Medical Examiner’s office spokesman said.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
