Our CAPS office would like to notify the community of these upcoming events. (We at Uptown Update held off on uploading these for a few days in order to post them near the dates of the events. The timing is unfortunately close to the shooting on Leland. This is not a case of the police having bad priorities, simply that of Uptown Update -- or the Leland shooters -- having very bad timing.)
- The Center on Halsted is having a Health Fair Saturday & Sunday, July 26-27.
- The City is having a Gun Turn-in on Saturday, July 26. Our local drop-off location is Uptown Baptist Church, at Wilson and Sheridan. The hours are 10am - 4pm, and each gun turned in will be exchanged for a $100 prepaid Mastercard.
- Block Club University Resource Fair will be held at Truman College on Saturday, August 2, 10:30 am-noon. All are welcome!
- National Night Out Against Crime is Tuesday, August 5. Each beat in the 23rd District will create its own observance. Beat 2311 will hold its CAPS meeting on the Sunnyside Mall with a BBQ and community rally (details to follow).
