In welcome Friday night news, Ald. Martin's office just released development plans for the parking lot on the SE corner of Ashland and Leland.
Designed by Kennedy Mann Architecture, the 6 story proposal by Honore Properties would fill a long vacant parking lot with much needed housing and density. The giant parking lot sits next to the former Our Lady of Lourdes school building that Honore purchased in 2022 and is currently renovating.
A total of 96 rental units are proposed with a mix of 12 studios, 66 one bedrooms, and 18 two bedroom units with 35 parking spaces.
Because a zoning change is being requested from RT-4 to B2-3, the city's Affordable Requirements Ordinance (ARO) would kick in and 20% of the units would be designated as affordable units.
The project is on Ald. Martin's Zoning Advisory Committee agenda for June.
