"Kick off your spring cleaning by bringing your paper items to our very popular shredding event. The event lasts for three hours OR until the truck is full, so arrive early to be sure your items can be accommodated. Limit TWO boxes per person, and the event is only open to individuals, not businesses.
WHEN: Friday, March 29, 1 - 4 p.m.
WHERE: 46th Ward office, 4544 N. Broadway
- WHAT CAN BE SHREDDED: Residential paper documents containing personal or private information, including bank statements and invoices, outdated medical records, pay stubs and receipts, credit card offers and tax returns older than seven years, colored copier paper, windowed or windowless envelopes, yellow legal pads, manila and colored file folders, message pads, non-glossy flyers, non-glossy pamphlets and non-glossy brochures
- WHAT CANNOT BE SHREDDED: Glossy pamphlets, glossy flyers, glossy brochures, newspapers, magazines, plastic bags or sleeves, bubble-insulated envelopes, credit and ID cards, license plates, cardboard (including hardcovers of books and composition folders), three-ring binders, spiral notebooks, plastic file covers, hanging file folders, accordion folders, paper towels, napkins, tissues, CDs, X-rays, blueprints, Styrofoam, prescription medicine bottles, and electronics or hard drives of any kind
- It's acceptable if your documents have small staples and/or plain metal paper clips
- Remove any plastic binder clips or other large metal or plastic fasteners
