The Thai New Year Water Festival Is Coming To Uptown
Can't get enough chim chum or yellow curry? You're in luck! The first Thai New Year Water Festival will take place right here in Uptown on the weekend of May 19-20, with more than 30 vendors participating, most of which will be restaurants from different areas of Chicagoland. Our own Immm Rice & Beyond is one of them.
There will also be Thai merchandise and crafts for sale, and events include traditional Thai dances, live music, and beer tents showcasing local Thai beers like Singha and Leo. There will be traditional New Years customs including daily Buddhist Prayers, and a water festival with water dunk tanks, water gun fights, Muay Thai shows and much more.
A $5 donation at the door is requested. It will take place in the Bridgeview Bank parking lot, steps from the Red Line station, at Lawrence and Clifton. The hours are 10am-10pm both days.
Volunteers are needed! Sign up for a shift and receive a special Thai New Year Water Festival Staff T-shirt and a complimentary food & drink ticket. If you'd like to get involved, please sign up here.
