It's Demo Day!

Demolition underway on the former El Pollo Loco/Burger King at Wilson & Sheridan
Demolition permits to wreck and remove the former El Pollo Loco (and before that, Burger King) were issued in the past few days and CRG Development wasted no time in getting to work on their new project. The photo above was from yesterday afternoon, so El Pollo Loco might be a distant memory by now.
Update: As of 12:21PM, May 22, El Pollo Loco is no more.
If you need a refresher, a 12 story TOD with 150 rental units and ground floor retail is slated for 4555 N. Sheridan. A great use of a severely underutilized corner of Uptown!

  1. I have a mixture of thoughts about the planned space but, as I walk past the old Burger King site daily, I thought about those beautiful healthy old trees that have been cut down for rental units that I and other long-time residents of Uptown will not be able to afford. So many of the trees in the neighborhood are young and sparse or old and sickly. I was sad to see those trees go just like I am sad to see the old Uptown go.
