"Out and About Uptown's Coast" Series Wraps Up With Green Infrastructure & A Stroll

After nearly a year of exploring various facets of "Out and About Uptown's Coast," the series will conclude on Saturday, April 28th, with a look at Green Infrastructure followed by a two-mile walk.


"Green Infrastructure: Building with Nature, scheduled for April 28th, 2018, at 2:30PM, will be the ninth and final session of the Out and About Uptown’s Coast environmental education series.

The session will start at 2:30PM at the ICA GreenRise, 4750 N. Sheridan Rd.  Local experts will explore various facets and benefits of green infrastructure in Uptown. Melanie Eckner from the Uptown Coastal Initiative will offer a history of Uptown’s Coast, and Carl Giometti from the Chicago Ornithological Society will share about bird-safe building design.

The session concludes with a special 2-mile walk to the coast, highlighting green infrastructure in the Leland Greenway, Lincoln Park Honeybee Grove, Marovitz Savanna, Purple Martin Houses, Montrose Point Bird Sanctuary, ending at Montrose Point Beach Dunes. Special guests from animalia project and the Purple Martin Monitoring Program will lend their expertise during the tour.
