4600 N. Magnolia TOD Gets Green Light

DLG Management's upcoming development at 4600 N. Magnolia (jonathan SPLITT architects)
A mostly vacant strip mall constructed in the early 1990s will soon make way for a 5 story transit-oriented development from DLG Management at 4600 N. Magnolia.

The project was given the green light by 3 out of 4 Sheridan Park block clubs and also had the support of the Sheridan Park Neighbors Association and Uptown United. A mix of 20 two bedrooms, 4 one bedroom garden units and 2 studios are planned for the development.

Full text of the letter sent out by Sheridan Park Neighbors Association and Magnolia-Malden Neighbors is below:

  1. Any idea how this affects Pokiology?

  2. This is quite a surprise. I am still waiting for a meeting of Magnolia-Malden Neighbors Assn to discuss the issue.

  3. It's nice to see the bulk of the units will be 2-bedroom. Most of the new rentals have been 1-bed or studio. I can only hope this will draw in more young families.

  4. Great for the area, but wish the designers could have come up with a more interesting outside design, it is just more of the same red brick architecture all over the city.

    1. ....Don't really know!! ....BUT maybe the architects WANTED to have a Blend_In_Building with the rest design for this building, rather than a Stand_Out, Different, and Alone design for this. ....Just_Sayin'!!

  5. There was no discussion about 24 hour permit parking. One person proposed it. By coincidence, that person is the president of Magnolia-Malden neighbors. That is not the way this process is supposed to work.

  6. Alderman Cappleman told me that he would want to see the results of a Magnolia-Malden meeting. But SPNA rushed to the media with the result. I think we need to slow down this decision process. "Green light" is premature.
