Uptown Garden Walk and Presentations This Sunday


You are invited to the Institute of Cultural Affairs' Second Annual Uptown Garden Walk, on Sunday, September 24th.

The walk includes 24 gardens and trees, and you can visit them on self-guided tours or on one of the two guided tours. Scheduled activities are listed below. All tours & presentations start at ICA GreenRise, 4750 N. Sheridan Rd.
  • 1PM — Presentations from local experts about urban agriculture in Uptown’s coastal zone, offering a short history of the coast, implications of climate change, and a closer look at Weiss Hospital’s Urban Rooftop Farm. This session and the following Coastal Harvest Tour is in partnership with the Out and About Uptown’s Coast series.
  • 2PM — Coastal Harvest Tour complements the 1PM presentations with a focus on urban agriculture initiatives along Uptown’s inner and outer coast.
  • 4PM — Tree Tour in celebration of the early fall season, led by Andrew Lueck of Planned Forest.
For self-guided tours, you can pick up a map at ICA GreenRise, 4750 N Sheridan, or Everybody’s Coffee, 935 W Wilson on September 24th between 10am and 5pm. Digital maps are forthcoming and can be found here when they are available.

The Garden Walk is free, and all are welcome to attend. RSVP is encouraged for those who plan to attend the presentations, the Coastal Harvest Tour, or the Tree Tour.
