Winona Foster Carmen Winnemac Block Club (WFCW) has given their approval to a proposal that would bring residential to a vacant lot and auto shop at the corner of Clark and Ainslie.
The proposal would bring a four-story building with retail on the ground floor and a total of 54 rental units. A mix of 3 studios, 36 one-bedrooms and 15 two-bedrooms are planned for the development with rents ranging from $1400-$2600 a month.

The development still has a few more hurdles to jump through and if all goes well, groundbreaking could occur in spring 2018.

The full proposal can be found here.

Last March the block club felt a proposed six-story building at the site with 60 apartments was too large for the site. This scaled-down version is by the same architects. You can read more about that proposal here.

The lot has been vacant since March 2009 when a fire destroyed the brick building / auto shop that was at that location.
