On the first weekend on May, cities all over the world honor urban activist Jane Jacobs with a free series of walks, usually led by neighborhood volunteers. On Saturday, May 7th, learn about mile-long Clarendon Avenue on a Jane's Walk tour entitled "Still Waters Run Deep: Uptown's Hidden Coastline."

The two-hour tour will leave from the Disney Magnet School at 11am and proceed north, ending up at Weiss Hospital's rooftop garden at Leland. Along the way, you'll pass the Buena Park Historic District, learn about when Clarendon was the Lake Michigan shoreline, and see the former Cuneo Hospital. Melanie Eckner will be your guide.
