Progress abounds outside FLATS Chicago's upcoming flagship "Lawrence House" property. New sidewalks have been poured and tree grates have been installed, which will green up this area for the first time in many, many years. Workers were hard at work sanding and restoring the beautiful ironwork that surrounds the street level retail windows. If you are quick, you might be able to spot one of the vintage gold leaf retail signs near the westernmost part of the building which reads "SHOES." A real piece of Uptown history is making a big comeback.
