Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful

Time to pay the piper for the mild winter we've been having. The National Weather Service is sending out warnings for the lakefront areas Monday. Not a good day for a run along the beach or taking guests to Navy Pier:

• "The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a lakeshore flood warning... which is in effect from 9 am Monday to midnight CST Monday night. Lake Shore Flooding...strong east winds gusting as high as 50 to 60 mph along the immediate lakefront will cause waves to build to 15 to 20 feet. Highest waves and winds expected Monday afternoon through Monday evening. Large battering waves may cause damage to piers and other structures along the lakeshore. Flooding of areas near the shore will be possible...including roads."
• "The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a high wind warning... which is in effect from 1 pm to 7 pm CST Monday. East winds sustained 35 to 45 mph... gusts up to 60 mph. Possible impacts...property damage and power outages."
• This one won't impact lakefront areas, but if you're traveling away from the lake, just be aware -- "The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a winter storm warning for freezing rain and sleet... which is in effect from 6 am to 1 pm CST Monday. Main impact... freezing rain and sleet will develop Monday morning... mainly away from Lake Michigan. Icy precipitation will change to rain everywhere by early afternoon. Strong winds will greatly increase the risk of power outages anywhere ice has accumulated on power lines and tree limbs."
