Sunday Morning Shooting At McDonald's

The Micky D's at Wilson and Sheridan was the scene of a double shooting in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning. Readers reported hearing five to six shots shortly before 6am, then seeing police and EMTs on the scene. News reports say a 33-year-old male and 24-year-old female were sitting in a parked car in the lot when another car pulled up and someone got out and shot the couple, then took off again. The man was shot in the shoulder and is in fair condition; the woman was shot in the buttocks and her condition has stabilized.

Whatever the reason behind the attack, we are positive that these victims were targeted and it was not random violence.

This is the fourth shooting incident in recent memory to take place at this particular McDonald's, the latest taking place in late June. That restaurant is always busy; we suggest the owners invest in some really good round-the-clock security. This is nuts.

  1. Oh foot. Shootings are a cancer on all of us. There is no leadership to stop it and the shooters feel entitled.

  2. @ED - it starts with tighter gun control laws. Congress won't do anything about it. Until we/you can get a different more progressive Congress in DC - don't hold your breath.

    1. No. It starts with conceding that the Welfare State is a complete failure. Give Dads incentives to stick around and raise their kids. Gun control is not the issue... don't fall for that trash.

    2. Did it occur to you that sometimes it's the MOMS that don't want anything to do with the dads? You'd be surprised how many go into delivery and have a manifestation about the father who is not in the delivery room with her. It's at that moment she wakes up and realizes, this guy aint no good, and cuts off contact with the father.

  3. Where is the video from the cop cam @ that corner or the Mickey D's? How could these clowns (pardon the pun) possibly evade all of those cameras?

  4. It starts with breaking the cycle of the celebration of the gangbanger life that starts in middle school and find its sustainment in Uptown's (and Rogers Park's) public housing.

The CHA oversees Chicago's gang recruitment centers and safe havens.

    1. At the age of 12/13 it's predicted that MOST boys stop listening to their moms and start listening to their homies.

  5. Yeah, I am the gang bangers would have gotten their guns legally. The real problem is not allowing more law abiden people to have guns and allow them to shoot back.

The big problem is people being to liberal and not allow for full prosecution

  6. As long as there are bleeding heart idiots who will coddle the gang bangers and their support system...as long as there is a soul that believes this is society's fault...as long as there are denizens receiving free homes, food, education, phones, etc without a care in the world....as long as there are people who think they are entitled to waking up and choosing to commit a crime without repercussion or punishment---then we will continue to have these repeating crimes.
