Tracks Come Down, Ghost Sign Appears

With the demolition of the concrete structure that carried the L tracks over Wilson, comes an unexpected surprise: a ghost sign that has not seen the light of day for years. Standing on the northern-most part of the Wilson platform looking west, the sign is visible. The top photo shows the beginning of the sign that reads "HO" and further along reads "FORWARDED TO ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD."

Anyone care to guess what this advertised and how long this sign has remained hidden?

Update:  Thank you to commenter Spillman, who says, "According to a 1920 Exporter's Directory, the warehouse to the north on Clifton was once the Chicago branch of the Anglo-American Lift Van Company, based in New York. They specialized in "Household Goods, works of art and furniture in lift vans between the United States and Europe." You can see the word London vertically below the first letter of the sign."

  1. I think it reads "HOUSEHOLD GOODS FORWARDED TO ALL PARTS OF THE WORLD."
