Anyone Know What's Going On With New Saigon?

A reader wrote in to ask, "Any reports on what is going on with New Saigon on Broadway?  I walked past it last night and it was empty but there is no signage explaining if it closed or just remodeling?"

We've asked around and no one seems to know what's going on with the decades-old fixture at Argyle and Broadway.  It does indeed look empty (even the fabled Michael Jackson poster is gone). The phone is still connected, but just rings and rings.  There's a wisp of a rumor that it may become a bank branch, but no confirmation can be found.

Anyone know if the New Saigon is undergoing a remodel, a change of ownership, or if it's closed permanently?  Enquiring minds -- and lovers of its amazing egg rolls -- want to know.

Update:  From the comments -- "New Saigon has closed permanently. I spoke with the owner, he said that he and his wife are not looking to start a new restaurant from scratch and the landlord no longer wants them as tenants."

  1. New Saigon has closed permanently. I spoke with the owner, he said that he and his wife are not looking to start a new restaurant from scratch and the landlord no longer wants them as tenants.
