Fire Destroys Building On Margate Terrace

Fire engulfs the back porches of 919-23 W. Margate Terrace
A fire ripped through 919-23 W. Margate Terrace shortly around 4am this morning. Firefighters were on the scene immediately and the fire was extinguished.

A neighbor sends in the following photo and accolades for our Chicago Fire and Police Departments:

"Just want to send a huge thank you to the men and women of the Chicago Fire and Police Department. Our neighbors suffered a tragedy this morning due to a fire that destroyed their homes. Both departments were quick to respond and I believe no one was hurt. Thank you again to all that helped. Our hearts and thoughts are with our neighbors."

  1. Do the evacuated residents need any item or food donations?

  2. Yes, please let us know what we can do to help. I live just one street over, and want to make sure they're taken care of.

  3. This is the second fire in this area. The first was only a few houses down. What caused them?

    2. The garage fire in the alley between Margate and Ainslie was a confirmed lightning strike, not arson.

  5. There seems to be a number of fires recently. How can we find a complete list of fires? If we have an issue, we need to know and do something.

Where can we get the number and locations of these fires?

    1. The CAPS meeting tonight at the Margate Field House at 7pm will address recent fires (and the rumors circulating about how they were started).
